“Well, now I’m 100% sure that there isn’t any chance of her going out with me” – I thought.
I looked like a complete loser in front of everyone while I was screaming like a little girl…
I was tired of repeating this nightmare 5 times per week. It was so bad that I genuinely didn’t want to go to school because I was constantly being bullied there.
But what can I do?
There has to be something I can do that can help me turn my whole life around. I really needed that change.

Why You Should Learn Calisthenics?
The solution to all my problems came unexpectedly.
It happened one afternoon while I was watching Youtube videos on my computer. I hated my life so I mainly used my pc to help me forget all my problems.
But that day everything changed.
I don’t know what exactly happened but I stumbled upon a terrible video showing you how to do push-ups.
I’m talking about a video made from these ugly animations with robotic voices and stuff:
After watching a couple of those videos and some more normal ones an idea popped into my head!
“Man, I really like how big and muscular these guys are. If I could look like them everything is going to be better.”
“Girls will finally start to notice me and the bullying is probably going to stop. I want to be like them…”
This random ugly video had the spark I was secretly looking for. The spark that was going to lead to the biggest fire in my life.
A few days later I managed to build some type of a basic workout plan based on different bodyweight exercises.
And that’s how I got into the calisthenics movement that completely changed my life.
As months were passing, I was slowly getting bigger, stronger and more ripped. For the first time in my life, I could actually see my abs.
With my new achievements and progress, my self-confidence grew as well.
I became more calm, determined and attractive.
Finally, the bullying has stopped and the people who were actually bullying me started to ask me questions about my working out routine.
Can you imagine this?
I, the skinny, shy kid that everyone made fun of was being asked various questions by the people who were trying to put him down.
I was in complete shock. I didn’t expect that.
But I won’t complain. I was extremely happy with my progress and how calisthenics has changed my life.
So you are wondering why you should learn calisthenics?
The answer is simple – because it has the power to change your life too.
With the help of calisthenics, you are going to build muscle, burn fat, become stronger and more athletic. Your confidence and self-belief will get on another new level. You will become more attractive, have more energy, and become healthier.
By doing regular bodyweight exercises you are transforming both your body are your mind.
And most importantly – happier.
I can go on and on with this list of benefits but you get the point. Learning calisthenics brings a ton of different benefits that can have a positive impact on any area of your life you can imagine.
That’s why I highly recommend to anybody reading this to try it for at least 1 month if he still hasn’t.
Aim to do 5 workouts per week for 4 weeks straight and see how you will look and feel after that.
Once you see the results popping with your own 2 eyes then you will see the real power of bodyweight training.
Sadly calisthenics has one huge downfall.
It takes time and a lot of it before you can see great results.

How To Learn Calisthenics Fast
Once I looked at the numbers popping on top of my digital scale my good mood suddenly vanished.
Beep. 68.5 kg. (135 lbs)
What? I couldn’t believe this!
In order to make sure I wasn’t imagining things, I took another try.
“Your current weight is 68.4 kg.”
68.4??? What? Are you kidding me?
The number was smaller than the first one. This has to be some sort of evil joke.
I stepped on the ground and tighten my fists as hard as I can until there was no more blood reaching my fingers.
Anger and frustration were growing inside me and I punched my chair as hard as I can. The only thing that hurt was my first.
“What the hell am I doing wrong?” – I thought while I was sitting on my bed where I couldn’t break anything.
Today was the 6th week without any progress in my weight. Absolutely nothing. Not even a pound.
And the same thing was happening with my skills. For some unknown reason, I couldn’t progress anymore.
No matter what new things I tried nothing was working…
I started rubbing all my 10 fingers through my hair in desperation because I didn’t know what else I could do.
The free calisthenics program I found on the web and tried for about 3 weeks was a hoax and complete waste of time.
I wasn’t getting anywhere.
“Ok, Bozhidar you know what you have to do. You need to ask for help.”. To be fair, my logic was good but my ego was stronger. That was the main reason why I haven’t asked for help yet.
“Only weak people ask for help and I’m not weak! I’m sure I can do it on my own if I want to”. Like a said my ego wasn’t going to lose the battle that easily.
“Yeah right… You saw the numbers on the scale mate, and we both know that numbers don’t lie. Grow a pair and ask for help. Do it now!”
This was one of the rare occasions where my logic has beaten my ego so I had to act.
After a quick change of clothes, I went directly to the place when I knew I would find all the answers I seek – the near calisthenics playground.
One of the best places on Earth.
After explaining my entire situation to a near group of buddies I finally learned the hard truth.
The fastest and easiest way to speed up my results in calisthenics or simply to have any was to follow a good workout program designed to help me progress on a weekly basis.
The main reason why I was stuck was because I was lacking exactly that.
Doing free random programs I found on the web was not going to give me extraordinary results, but having a properly structured program could.
But how to find a well-structured calisthenics program?
How to speed up my results?
After bombarding my buddies with a series of new questions I learned the name of one program most of them recommended.
The program was called Bar Brothers The System and from what I learned it offered everything I really needed.
At first, I wasn’t really happy because the whole program was priced around $40-50 bucks and that was all my monthly lunch money.
But my desire for results was stronger than $50 bucks so after a few weeks of savings, I finally bought it.

Find and follow a good workout program that works and is going to get you outside your comfort zone.
But even with the best program available, you won’t get far if you don’t handle this one thing…
What Is REALLY Stopping You From Learning Calisthenics?
My palms were sweating.
Everyone was watching me and the whole room was so silent that the only thing I was hearing was my own pulse beating loudly inside my head.
My turn has come. It was now or never.
I slowly walked to the pull-up bar, dried my hands on my shorts and carefully placed my hands on both sides of the bar. I was ready to hear the start.
The bar was slippery because of the previous contestant but I didn’t have time to complain.
“Are you ready Bozhidar?” – asked my teacher
I slowly nodded my head in agreement.
“Good. You got only one chance so give your best. Be ready to start doing pull-ups in 3…, 2…,1…,
Even if I was going to shit my pants out of fear my body immediately reacted to the final word I heard.
I had only 60 seconds to beat 16 pull-ups if I wanted to become this year’s winner.
Over 100 students were watching me closely while my body was jerking up and down like a fish who was failing to breathe air in a bucket.
After 50 seconds I somehow managed to do 13 pull-ups.
That meant only 3 more. 3 more pull-ups and I was going to be the new school champion from my grade.
55 seconds – 2 more.
58 – seconds – 1 more.
While everyone was counting my last few seconds as it was the end of the world everything inside my body was burning and hurting.
With a silent scream, I pull myself with everything I’ve got for one last time.
The second my head was over the bar everyone screamed “Zero”.
It was over.
I dropped myself immediately and turned around towards everyone expecting sad faces but instead I saw joyful screams and jumping classmates.
Then I realized it. I freakin did it!
I managed to do 16 pull-ups in only 60 seconds!
I was the new winner!
The first thing that ran through my brain was how happy I was because I have finally beaten the one thing that was stopping me from learning calisthenics and trying new things.
I don’t really understand why such short word can have so big impact on our lives.
This was the main reason why I’ve wasted many months trying to do everything on my own instead of simply asking for help.
It was the thing that controlled every aspect of my life for many years. This was my biggest enemy and I have finally found a way to defeat it.
Let me share with you how exactly.
What’s the best way to beat fear?
No matter how frightened you feel, how insecure or insure you are, you can do it.
If I haven’t started doing push-ups and pull-ups I would never know what I could do.
If I haven’t asked my workout buddies for help I would never know what was my biggest mistake.

Top 5 Reasons Why You Should Learn Calisthenics
Even if I’ve already shared a lot of good reasons earlier I want to become even more specific than that.
Here are my top 5 main reasons why I believe you should learn calisthenics:
1. You can build more muscle, strength, and stamina while melting away fat
Let’s be real. You are reading this article because you probably want to pack some muscle or burn fat.
And these are 2 things we all want.
One of the main reasons training exists is because we want to look and feel good.
And what better way to achieve that only with the help of your body weight.

This tip is probably my favorite one because I really like outdoor workouts.
With the help of good resistance bands, a solid outdoor pull-up bar, and good weather you can do anything you like.

The beauty of bodyweight training is that you can train literally anywhere you like.
For example, here’s a picture of the current weather outside by the time I’m typing this:
As you can see there is currently a lot of snow in my country because it’s the middle of the winter.
And yes, it sucks a lot to work out in such cold and poor weather conditions but I don’t need to.
Because I mainly use my bodyweight I can do almost everything only with the help of a simple wall-mounted pull-up bar at home.
Yep, it’s warm, lighted and cozy.

And the cool thing is that it doesn’t really matter if it’s pouring snow or rain outside. I don’t care.
If you are like me and want to use the comfort of working out at home when the weather sucks I highly recommend you to invest in a good pull-up bar.

At the end of the day, it doesn’t really matter where you are.
Even if you are on the Moon you won’t have any problems if you know the right movements and have a good working plan.
With those 2 things you can train effectively any part of your body anywhere you like.
You are not stuck inside a room filled with other sweaty people.
3. It’s completely free to do (and it saves you money)
Speaking of stinking rooms why on Earth would you enjoy paying money every single month in order to be able to workout.
Especially if you have the option to do it completely free.
Yes, that’s one of the biggest advantages of why you should learn calisthenics.
It doesn’t cost a penny.
Especially if we are talking about monthly gym payments you must pay.
“You have to pay buddy. If you don’t give me $30 now you are going to have to find a new place to work out.”
That’s the main reason why I’m never going to pay money in order to be able to workout.
And here’s the true beauty of bodyweight training – the only few things you need to buy cost only a tiny fraction of what you are going to pay your local gym for the period of one year.
And the fun part is that once you have bought the basics it’s game over.
If they are quality products you can use them for many years and even decades.
It’s like a one-time payment. Once you pay them you are done.
But what are those important basic things I’m talking about?
Let’s find out…
4. It doesn’t require expensive equipment
If you want to really progress in calisthenics you have to buy a couple of things that you are going to need.
Don’t worry they are not expensive but owning them can really speed up your results.
Let’s compare them to the price of a home gym or simply by going to one.
Because I own both things I can easily tell you that in order to build a basic home gym you are going to have to pay somewhere between $700 to $1000 bucks.
On the other hand, the calisthenics equipment I’m talking about combined cost only about $200 to $250.
And if you decide to go to a local gym you are probably going to pay around $300-400 per year.
As you can see calisthenics equipment is nearly 3 times cheaper than investing in a home gym and about half the price of paying for a commercial gym.
And the funny thing is that bodyweight training can bring you the same results if you follow a good workout program.
Not after you know how much it costs let’s see what things you are going to need to buy.
Here are the 3 most essential calisthenics equipment you may need:
1. Indoor Pull-up bar – This is probably the most important thing you must have in your arsenal.
And trust me with a solid bar you can do a lot more things than pull-ups and chin-ups.

2. Resistance bands – These are a must-have for anyone who is serious about calisthenics.
With a nice set of bands, you can target every single muscle of your body. They work extremely well literally everywhere when you can find a solid anchor point.

3. Weighted vest – This isn’t a beginner-friendly product but if you are serious about calisthenics you are going to need it at some point.
If it’s heavy enough it could be used for any exercise you can think of.
I mainly use mine for push-ups, dips and pull-ups and plank.
During the period I’ve used it, it had managed to help me gain a lot more strength and muscle mass in a short period of time.

Of course, there is a lot more calisthenics equipment you can buy but these are the 3 basic things I find most important to have.
But what’s the purpose of all that equipment if you can’t use it?
5. You can learn amazing and really impressive movements

It’s really amazing how many different things you can do once you master the basics of the calisthenics training.

And the best part is that these things are not impossible to learn. You can master some of them in less than a year.
But don’t get this wrong. Even if all those movements look easy on video, they are not!
In order to master them, you are going to need a lot of patience, hard work, and a good workout program.
But once you have learned a couple of them the fun part really starts.
You can combine them with a couple of backflips, frontflips and you are ready for the new season of America’s Got Talent lol.
The funny thing is that I’m not even joking. 😉
