There are a few things that are good to know about even before you own a bar.

Let’s check the first one…

Most products are about 48 inches wide which is the compatible length for the average stud spacing of most houses.

Unfortunately, in some cases, the studs can’t be used for attaching the bar so you will have to attach a large board or some sort of timber to the studs. After that, on top of added support, you will have to drill the holes and attach the pull-up bar tightly.

Another scenario in which you may add additional support is if your mounting wall is not that stable. A very common way people do it is by adding 2×4’s for extra support.

It’s recommended to measure the height of the room in which you are going to install the equipment. Do not forget to leave at least 30 inches above the bar so you can have enough space for movements such as muscle-ups and all other over the bar exercises. This part is only important if the design of your pull up-bar allows you do to such exercises.

If you have to deal with low ceiling make sure to mount it high enough so you can comfortably hang without your feet touching the ground if possible.
