I really recommend this squat rack because it’s very cheap, has great weight capacity, easily adjustable j-cups (the red things you can see on both sides), tall and wide enough pull-up bar, and a very stable base.
I’m combining it with resistance bands, gymnastic rings, and my adjustable bench and everything works fine.
I haven’t tried to do muscle-ups because my ceiling is not that tall but you could probably do a couple if you place some weights on both ends.
In addition to that, I’ve used it for a while now and except for the few scratches I’ve made, there aren’t any problems with the quality.
Everything is working as it should and there isn’t any rust or wiggling.
In my opinion, this is the best squat rack with a pull-up bar you can get for your home gym and nothing else comes close to the value you get.

So check them out and pick the one that fits your needs the best.
Let’s start with the first one which is my favorite…
1. CAP Barbell Power Rack – Best Squat Rack With Pull Up Bar for Home Gym
Click Here to check CAP Barbell’s latest price on Amazon
My overall experience and opinion:
The first model from this list is my personal squat rack I use almost every day when I train at my home gym.
From what I’ve seen this is the simplest and the least expensive model you can buy.
But even if the price is low that doesn’t mean the quality is bad.
I have used it for a while now and everything is still holding. The used materials are nice and everything is well made.
But one of my favorite things about my squat rack is the overall weight.
I don’t know how they have done it but everything weights only about 60-70 pounds (27-31 kg) and was very easy and fast to assemble.
I assembled everything alone for about 30 minutes following all the provided instructions.
The height of the bar is enough allowing most people to do pull-ups without any issues. For example, I’m an average height and can do pull-ups and chin-ups without any problems.
Another useful thing the CAP Barbell Power Rack has is the 2 spots for storing plates on both sides.
I find those spots to be really useful because besides the obvious space-saving you can also use the plates for helping with the overall structural stability.
Once you place 40-50 lbs on each side you can do all sorts of explosive training and everything will stay in one place.
Another cool feature I like is the rubber protection underneath which protects your floor from damage and scratches. As you can see I store my squat rack at my home and so far I haven’t seen any issues with slipping and sliding.
From what I’ve seen the CAP Barbell squat rack the perfect choice for beginners who don’t want to invest a ton of money and still want to have all the functionality available.
But again for that low price you really get only the basics that will be enough for some people. If you want more feel free to check the other 4 models reviewed below.
Another benefit of this rack I really enjoy is the dimensions.
Because of the lack of extra features, this rack doesn’t take as much space as some of the other models on the market.
You can easily fit it in any normal-sized room and still have enough space for your workouts.
Price and value: Even if my squat rack with a pull-up bar is one of the cheapest ones you can buy online that doesn’t mean it’s terrible. Even if some important features are missing for such a low price you can’t really expect much so when it comes to value and price I would rate it an 8 out of 10. If you want more extra features and better weight capacity you will have to pay a higher price.
Extra Features: The squat rack I own comes with 3 unique features worth mentioning. They are the 4 extra holes that allow you to bolt the whole thing on the floor if you want so, the bar holder on the left side and the plate holder on the right side. Even tho I really like both of them it would be nice if the weight from the plates was distributed equally on both sides meaning 2 plate holders instead of only one. But even if it’s not ideal I still recommend it for a beginner because it’s light, cheap, and does what it promises so I would give it a 7.5 out of 10 for the extra features it gives me.
Stability, safety, and weight capacity: Because of the wide base, extra plate holder, and overall design I’ve so far had no problems when it comes to stability and safety and I haven’t bolted it anywhere. But beware that this machine is not made for the explosive type of pull-up bar training so it would be a little difficult to do muscle-ups if you don’t stack a ton of weights on the backside. But when it comes to regular training the 500 lbs weight limit is enough and you won’t have any problems with anything. So for this category, an 8 out of 10 is a good number.
Number of exercises: When it comes to that the squat rack offers what it promises. I easily do the regular exercises like pull-ups, chin-ups, military press, squat, bench press, and rows using the j-cups. If you place enough weights you can even do some resistance bands training but I don’t recommend you to go for the bigger and thicker bands if you haven’t bolted it down the floor.
What makes it unique and better than the rest?: If I have to be completely honest I would say that 3 things make this squat rack with a pull-up bar different than all the rest and they are the bar holder, the option to bolt it down the floor, and the low price point. I haven’t seen any other squat rack that offers a bar holder and for such a low price, you can’t really go much better than this.
Who is this squat rack best for?: If you are on a tight budget and don’t have a lot of space and are only planning to use the squat rack for the basic compound movements then this is the perfect option for you. It offers everything you need and it’s a great option for any budget home gym. If on the other hand, you want more features and bigger weight capacity then you should go for the more expensive models I’m going to review next.
Are there any good alternatives?: The best alternative I can give you which is in the same price range is the Body Champ Squat Rack (click here to check it out). It has 2 plate holders instead of only one but it can withstand only 300 lbs which may not be enough for some of you. But it’s a great option you can check as well.
What I like:
- Very affordable
- Extremely lightweight. The whole constructions weight only 61 pounds making it very easy to move around
- Compact design that doesn’t take too much floor space
- Easy to carry around
- Perfect for beginners or people who don’t use a ton of weight
- Has 1 barbell holder and 1 bar holder that are really useful
- Fairly easy and fast assemble
- Good Quality Construction
- Good height and wide enough pull-up bar
What I don’t like:
- Doesn’t have 2 equal plates storage holders
- Doesn’t have extra features like band holders, safety pins, and you have to buy the more expensive model to get them
Quick Summary:
If you are looking for an affordable, simple, and effective squat rack with a pull-up bar I highly recommend you to get the CAP Barbell squat rack.
I’ve used it for many different exercises including calisthenics and everything works perfectly.
Even if can hold only 500 lbs this is still one very good piece of equipment that can help you gain a lot more muscle, strength and improve your skills.

2. HulkFit Pro Adjustable Squat Stance – Most Functional Squat Rack with Pull Up Bar
Click Here to check HulkFit’s latest price on Amazon
My overall experience and opinion:
If you don’t mind spending a little more money then you will most likely like the second squat rack made by HulkFit.
This is the rack a friend of mine owns and from the couple of times, I have used it I can tell you it’s rock solid.
With its many useful features and clever design, this squat stand can offer you everything you can get from this type of home gym equipment.
The stability and safety of the stand are assured with the help of the triangle locks on both sides and no matter what you do you can rest assured it’s going to stay in one place. We have trained like animals and everything stayed strong.
The 2 additional weight holders on the backside also add to the overall sturdiness. They also help you store your weights and use them easily right on the move.
But even if you don’t have any weight placed on you can still train without any concerns because the machine is heavy enough. As a matter of fact, the whole structure weighs 110 lbs (55 kg) which is going to help it stay in one place.
The stand rubber feet will protect your floor from getting scratches while, on the other side, they help with the stability.
One big plus my friend loves about the HulkFit squat rack is the safety pins.
They are going to protect you from getting crushed by the weight so you can really train alone and go after failure.
The whole package comes with a set of 2 pegs which can be placed on the safety pins which provide you with the option to do dips.
For me personally, this is a very good addition because it saves you money from buying a separate dip station.
The pegs can be also used as anchor points for adding additional bands to your workouts.
This might result in increased intensity which on the other hand will get you faster and better progress. [1]
This bad boy can withstand 800 pounds of weight making it excellent for hardcore and advanced fitness fanatics as well as complete beginners.
My friend and I don’t train with that much weight but it’s better to be safe than sorry.
Other great options you get are the 2 pull up bars that are included in the package.
Each one has a different diameter.
If you want you can install only one and have the option to adjust it to your height.
Price and value: Even if this squat rack is more expensive than mine it still provides a really good value for the money. For a very good price, you get many features that only the high-end squat racks offer that the cheaper ones don’t. That places HulkFit Pro in the middle and gives it a rating of 9 out of 10 when it comes to price and value.
Extra Features: I really like this squat rack with a pull-up bar because it offers many useful features. The favorite ones I like are the 2 adjustable pull-up bars (yes, you can move them up and down), the 2 very long and useful safety pins that can also be used to do dips, the 2 plate holders on the backside that work with Olympic and normal plates and the 2 resistance bands holders you can see on the bottom side. As you can see this machine comes with a ton of extra features making it the perfect choice for a home gym. That’s why I’m going to give it a 10 out of 10 when it comes to extra features.
Stability, safety, and weight capacity: You can be sure this squat rack is safe because it can easily withstand up to 800 lbs of weight. The base is really wide and the 2 plate holders distribute the extra weight equally so there won’t be any wobble. You can’t really get any better than this without bolting it on the floor which sadly doesn’t apply for this machine. At least if you don’t mind drilling the base. But even with that, I would still rate it a 9 out of 10 because it’s very stable and safe.
Number of exercises: Because of all the extra features I mentioned above this squat rack offers more exercises than the traditional ones making it really stand out from the rest. But the biggest plus I see is the option to do dips without having to buy a dip stands or a dip station. That’s why I would rate it a 9.5 out of 10 in this category.
What makes it unique and better than the rest?: What makes this squat rack really unique is the fact that you get 2 pull-up bars, dip bars, very wide safety bars, and additional resistance band holders. And guess what? They are all adjustable so you can adjust them for your personal needs. I don’t know about you but I haven’t seen anything like it anywhere else.
Who is this squat rack best for?: This squat rack is best for people who can spend a little more money and really want to be able to do more exercises. Because of all the adjustable extra features and great design, this squat rack with a pull-up bar is perfect for any home gym and person who is really serious about working out at home.
Are there any good alternatives?: A worthy alternative I should mention that has many of the described features above is the Sunny Health & Fitness Power Zone Squat Stand (click here to check it out). The only downside is that the Sunny squat rack doesn’t come with the dip stands included and you have to buy them separately but overall it’s a worthy opponent.
What I like:
- Great 800 pounds weight capacity
- Gives you the option to do dips
- Extra Resistance bands attachment
- Comes with 2 adjustable pull up bars with different diameters
- It has 2 extra weight plate holders
- Great stability and design
- All assemble tools are included
What I don’t like:
- The space between the adjustment holes is a little bigger
- The dip bars can be a little too close together
Quick Summary:
If you can spare a little more money and have more space then your best bet is to go for the HulkFit squat rack.
This rack is awesome and has all the features you need. It has 2 different width pull-up bars, safety pins, a wider design, and a heavy-duty frame.
With its help, you can crush your muscles and get really solid workouts in the comfort of your home.
That’s why I highly recommend it to anyone looking for something like this.

3. Fitness Reality 810XLT Super Max – Best Power Cage for Home Gym
Click Here for Fitness Reality 810XLT’s latest price on Amazon
My overall experience and opinion:
I really like the third option because of the thick and solid construction made from 2 x 2 in steel.
The combination of wide base, additional support pipes and heavy weight (133.5 lbs) makes it far more stable and sturdy than the average squat racks out there, which has usually 2 steel foundations.
The square steel frame allows you to operate with a lot of weight. To be specific the rack handles 800 lbs with ease making it ideal for an advanced individual or total beginner who is serious about working out.
The inside of the rack gives you plenty of space to work with.
Besides the many exercises you can do in there, the Fitness Reality 810XLT is designed so you could easily fit an adjustable bench inside.
If you have one you will be able to do a lot of exercises such as bench press, seated shoulder press, box squats and much more.
If you don’t have an adjustable bench but are looking for a good one I highly recommend you check mine using this link.
The 2 safety bars on both sides of the cage are easy to use and tough enough to help you protect yourself.
You may feel very confident in your squatting abilities but it’s never bad to have additional protection.
The construction comes with 19 adjustable height levels for the safety bars and holding pins. That provides you with a good variety of options to work with.
One good thing to have in mind is that the pull-up bar has a good curve and additional grip options to choose from.
That’s a good thing to have because it’s not that common to have such things when it comes to squat racks with pull up bars.
This rack comes with an additional option to buy it with a lat pulldown attachment. If you have the extra space and money that would be a great investment because it’s going to allow you to do way more exercises and target your muscles from different angles.
One of the best things about this power cage with a pull-up bar is the price.
Even if it looks very expensive and premium the price is very reasonable if not the best I’ve seen for this type of product.
Price and value: Even tho the 3rd option is not a squat rack I’ve still decided to show it to you because it can do absolutely the same things and even more. I really like this power cage because it’s one of the cheapest ones you can get that are actually pretty decent. Yes, I’m not joking at all. Click here to see the price and compare it yourself to some similar models to get the idea. So when it comes to value no other power cage can offer you more than what the Fitness Reality 810XLT Super Max can do. Because of that, this is an easy 10 out of 10 for me when it comes to price and value.
Extra Features: The only extra features I find interesting are the double-curved pull-up bar and the 2 extra stability bars. I really like the extra pull-up bar because it gives you more grip options and the curve helps you to better target your lats when you do wide-grip pull-ups. The extra stability bars are also a plus because they make the whole thing way more stable compared to some other models. So because of that, I’m going to give it a 7.5 out of 10 for extra features. I would have given it more if they offered some sort of handles to do dips and a resistance band attachment on the bottom side.
Stability, safety, and weight capacity: Because this is a power cage that has a cube design it is way more stable than the traditional squat stands and can easily withstand more weight. To be specific the Fitness Reality cage can withstand easily 800 lbs so you won’t have any problems with stability or safety. Even if the whole design is compact it still offers enough indoor space so you can place an adjustable bench or move around freely. So it’s very stable equipment that is worth a 10 out of 10 in this category.
Number of exercises: Because of the combined pull-up bar and the fact that this is a power cage you can easily do more exercises if we compare it to a cheaper squat rack. And here you can go a lot heavier on weights without having to fear everything collapsing. But because this model doesn’t come with dip stands or resistance bands attachment I would rate it a 7 out of 10 in this category. You can still buy them separately which is something I don’t personally like.
What makes it unique and better than the rest?: If we compare this power cage to other power cages the main difference is the price. You can’t really get better than this and it still offers very good quality and characteristics. If we compare it to the traditional squat rack I would say it’s more stable and can withstand heavier weights easily.
Who is this squat rack best for?: After working out in a similar model I have to say that this piece of equipment is perfect for people who have plenty of space and want to get on the next level from a squat rack without spending a fortune. It offers almost everything you need and it doesn’t take too much space making it an excellent option for a small home gym. But if you want something even smaller that offers pretty much the same things your best bet is a squat rack.
Are there any good alternatives?: Even if it’s a little more expensive the HulkFit 1000-Pound Power Cage is a worth opponent (click here to check it out). It has a pretty similar design but it can withstand 200 lbs more and comes with dip stands which I really like. So if you don’t mind spending little more cash I would recommend you to go with the HulkFit. But even if you don’t the Fitness Reality Power cage is equally good.
What I like:
- It can also withstand up to 800 pounds of weight
- Comes with adjustable safety bars
- Uses a very stable and safe square design
- The pull-up bar has multiple grips
- It has 19 adjustable height levels (more than some models)
- Is made with thick and strong solid steel
- You can choose between different options that have different features
- The base doesn’t slip or wobble
What I don’t like:
- Doesn’t come with any plate holders and you need to buy or build them separately
- The overall packaging is not good at all
Quick summary:
If you are looking for something more stable that can hold a lot of weight and gives you plenty more options then you should definitely check the Fitness Reality 810XLT power cage.
This is one of the cheapest power cages I’ve seen and even so the quality is amazing. It can easily hold up to 800 lbs and give you enough space to do many additional things.
In my opinion, this is one very great product worth buying.

4. Body Champ PBC530 Power Rack – Most Compact and Portable Squat Rack for Home Gym
Click Here for Body Champ PBC530’s latest price on Amazon
My overall experience and opinion:
If you have a limited budget and space then the Body Champ Power Rack is one of the best options you should check out.
This squat rack is a very simple yet effective home gym equipment.
The curved pull-up bar is wide enough to provide you with the best pull-up variations while the base is wide enough so you won’t wobble around.
Another great feature is the pre-built Olympic weight plate holders so if you already own a couple of those this can be literally a lifesaver.
Not only are the plate holders useful because you don’t have to carry weights around but this will also help with the stability of the whole stand.
The 2 extra supports in combination with the U-shape design will make sure everything stays in one place even during your explosive type of training.
To be extra secure it’s good to know that the welding points of the whole rack are reinforced.
Lie all the previous models, the whole bottom part is wrapped in non-slip rubber to protect your floor from being damaged.
But one extra feature only the Body Champ PBC530 has are the 4 pre-drilled floor anchors which give you the option to secure it tightly to the ground.
That way you will be 100% sure nothing can move it. But the best part is the fact that if you remove all the weights the whole machine weighs only 63.5 lbs (around 30 kg) making it easy to move around so you can clean underneath.
The weight pegs the rack comes with are fast and easy to adjust.
With them, you have 12 positions in total which gives you plenty of variations to work with.
Another very good feature besides the low price is the fact that this model also comes with a pair of safety bars on both sides.
They can be really handy for a lot of different things in spite of the problem they can be a little too short for some people.
Price and value: I really like the Body Champ Power Rack because it’s really lightweight, portable, and affordable. For a decent amount of money, you get a basic and simple squat rack that has everything you really need – a wide pull-up bar, 2 sets of adjustable J-cups, and 2 plate holders. So I have to say that you pay for what you get and if you want something affordable yet well made this home gym equipment is worth the price. So because of that, I’m going to give it an 8.5 out of 10.
Extra Features: When it comes to extra features with this squat rack I only see 4 good ones: the extra set of J-cups, the curve on both ends of the pull-up bar, the 2 plate holders on the backside, and the option to mount it to the floor. Even if they are nothing special on their own when you combine them and compare them with what way more expensive models offer you will see that many of the competitors are lacking one or the other of these features. That’s why I would still give it an 8 out of 10 in this category because for this price you do get a lot.
Stability, safety, and weight capacity: Because this squat rack is very lightweight it’s not very stable when completely empty. But once you place a couple of plates on the holders you won’t have any problems with stacking up to 300 lbs of weight. Sadly this amount is nothing special so think carefully if this would be enough for you. If the question is yes, then feel free to buy it because it’s a really good overall product. If 300 lbs of weight is too little for you, check some of the other models I’ve reviewed and compared inside this article. So I would give it a 6 out of 10 only because of the low weight capacity.
Number of exercises: Because this specific squat rack doesn’t contain anything special the number of exercises it provides is going to be the exact same as all the other models. You can still attach resistance bands, gymnastic rings, or a pulley cable machine to increase that number but you need to make sure that you have placed a couple of plates inside the holders for extra counterweight. That’s why my final rating in this category will be another 6 out of 10.
What makes it unique and better than the rest?: If I have to be completely honest with you the only 3 real differences I find somewhat unique in this model are the low price, lightweight frame, and overall size. This adjustable squat rack is pretty compact if we compare it to the previous power cage and has just enough space so you can do all your movements freely. So in some way that makes it unique as well.
Who is this squat rack best for?: This portable and lightweight squat rack is perfect for people who don’t want to own heavy or bulky machines at home. It has everything you really need and it’s pretty affordable. So that makes it a perfect option for people who just want to test the waters and don’t want to spend a fortune yet. In my opinion, this squat rack is perfect for a newbie who doesn’t need a huge amount of weight capacity of fancy features. It’s simple and works great with all the basic compound moves.
Are there any good alternatives?: In case you want more options you should take a look at this power rack (click here to check it out). It is a little more expensive but offers a better weight limit and more adjustable holes. But the overall features are the same so you won’t go wrong whatever one you choose.
What I like:
- The price is low making it a very affordable option
- Comes with 2 additional weight plate holders for extra stability
- Gives you the option to floor anchor it (not many models offer this)
- It has 12 adjustable positions which is a really good feature considering the price
- The whole machine is really light making it easy to carry around
- The pull-up bar has a small curl which makes wide pull-ups feel better
- Uses thick rubber feet to protect the floor
What I don’t like:
- Its maximum capacity is only 300 lbs. which is the bare minimum
- The included safety pins are too short
Quick Summary:
Because of the light frame (63.5 lbs) and compact size (43 W x 45.5 L x 82 H) and low price the Body Champ PBC530 is an excellent option for people who don’t have a lot of space but still want to have all the basic functionality.
The pre-drilled anchor holes, 12 different peg positions, and 2 safety bars make this product unique and with high value.
It’s perfect for beginners and people who have limited space and budget.

5. Cap Barbell Power Rack FM-CB8000F – Best Stability and Safety
Click Here to check CAP Barbell’s latest price on Amazon
My overall experience and opinion:
What’s really impressive is the fact that the main steel frame of the CAP Barbell rack is made with a combination of 12 and 14 gauge steel which is the strongest steel compared to all the other models.
That with the combination of the bottom 2 extra support and the strong welds it makes the whole rack very stable and safe to use.
In addition to the really professional and nice-looking design, everything is finished with a powder finish coat which helps with the longevity and the overall durability of the stand.
In order to prevent oxidation and improve the overall life of the rack, the design ensures that all open ends are capped preventing any oxygen from entering the frame.
But the best part is the awesome features.
The CAP Barbell rack comes with 4 storage places instead of the traditional 2.
It has 2 plate holders on each side which is used to increase the overall stability and it also has 2 barbell holders on the back.
You won’t have to be concerned about your barbells getting scratched because the barbell holders, safety bars and the holding pins are all protected with ABS sleeves. (nice addition only this model has)
It’s perfect for more advanced people with its 600 lbs combined weight limit. (300 for the rack and 300 for the pull-up bar)
But one of the best features is the extra band posts on each side. With their help, you can easily attach up to 3 bands making all the exercises a lot tougher.
Sadly this specific model is little more expensive than some of the other models but you really get what you pay for and it’s worth every single penny.
Another great benefit is the ability to mount the whole rack to the ground with the help of the included mounting tabs for maximum safety and stability.
Overall this is one great product that has everything you will ever need from a squat rack.
Price and value: In this category, the CAP Barbell FM-8000F is going to thrive because it offers almost all the features all the previous 4 squat stands had combined. For a very good price, you get a squat rack that has 2 plate holders, 2 bar holders, 6 resistance bands holders, 2 decently long safety pins, and a nice and wide pull-up bar. The only thing I see missing is the extra dip station and the ability to hang non-Olympic plates on the holders. But overall I’m impressed with the value you get and will give them an 8.5 out of 10.
Extra Features: With this squat rack with a pull-up bar I really like the additional 2 bar holders on the back, the 6 resistance bands holders on the bottom, and the fact that the plate holders are located way above the ground. I really find this design easier to use because you don’t have to bend that much each time you want to pick or plate a weight. I don’t want to sound lazy but doing this 10 times per workout does add up in time. So because of this small change, I’m going to rate it a 9.5 out of 10.
Stability, safety, and weight capacity: I have trained on this squat rack once and I have to say it was pretty sturdy even without any plates placed on the holders. It was also really stable with a really heavy barbell on top (I was doing shrugs). So when you combine that with its weight capacity of 500 lbs of weight capacity you really get decent equipment. And because of that, I would rate it a 10 out of 10 in this category.
Number of exercises: Because of the 6 extra band anchoring points on the bottom you will be able to do more exercises compared to a squat rack that doesn’t have them. But besides that, this model has all the same features as almost any other similar model so I don’t see anything special here. You will be able to do almost identical exercises so because of that I will give it an 8 out of 10.
What makes it unique and better than the rest?: What I find unique and different in the CAP Barbell FM-8000F is the extra protective padding they have on all places where your bars touch the base, the 6 welded resistance bands anchor points, and the 2 bar slots you can find on the bottom side. I really like the padding and the 2 bar slots because they are really useful and rare. If I have to be completely honest I haven’t seen any other model that has protective padding in this price range so good job on that.
Who is this squat rack best for?: Because of the good price and the high number of useful features I would say that this squat rack is best for anybody who has some spare cash and wants to get the best value money can get. Because of the way it’s designed, this squat rack can withstand a lot of weight and is a perfect selection for a home or garage gym. You can do a lot of heavy lifting and it wouldn’t budge.
Are there any good alternatives?: If you are looking for a little bit more features and better materials from here you can upgrade to the Hulkfit Squat Rack I’ve already reviewed above. (you can click here to check it out). If you don’t mind spending a little more money you will get extra dip bar extensions, a second pull-up bar, and a 300 lbs of weight capacity improvement. In my opinion, it’s worth the upgrade if you can afford it.
What I like:
- The frame is really nicely made. It’s the same material finish gyms use.
- Comes with very good instructions
- Easy and fast to assembly
- Can hold up to 600 lbs which is great
- Comes with 2 plate storages for Olympic weights and 2 Olympic bars (4 in total)
- Good length safety bars
- Extra ABS protection for your barbells on everything (prevent scratches)
- Can be attached to the floor for extra stability
What I don’t like:
- Тhe overall packaging is poorly designed
- Some products come with missing mounting hardware (you may need to buy it yourself)
- Plate holders don’t support non-Olympic plates
Quick Summary:
If safety is your number one priority then you should check out the CAP Barbell FM-CB8000F rack.
This squat stand is made to last and it comes with a ton of very useful features and options. The price is good and many people are very happy with the overall quality and performance.
That’s why I highly recommend it to anyone looking for something well made that can be used for a home gym.

How To Choose The Best Squat Rack With Pull Up Bar (Top 8 Things You Need To Know)
There are some essential things to keep in mind when choosing the best squat rack with pull up bar. In this section, I am going to tell you what you should consider in advance in order to save time and potential headaches.
1. What is the best height for a squat rack with pull-up bar?
The average height of a squat rack that has a pull-up bar on top is between 81 and 85 inches (206 – 216 cm). So before you buy a squat rack you need to measure you ceiling to be sure you will have at least 20 inches of head space above.
Your first task when buying a new squat rack that has a pull-up bar is to check the tallest point of the pull-up bar.
Then you need to do the same with your room and do the math of how much space will be left available.
If you have at least 20 inches above it feel free to continue. If not try and find shorter model.
But how to find out what is the perfect height for your own personal needs?
Well, to answer your question as easily as possible the best way is to figure out if a specific height is good for you is that to hold the pull-up bar and see if your feet are touching the ground.
If they don’t that means you have found the perfect height. If they do it’s not the end of the world but you will have to bend them a bit when doing pull-ups and chin-ups.

In case that other people are going to use the same squat rack as often as you don’t be selfish – make sure that even the tallest person can use it without problems.
Believe me, it is not cool to be left behind so put this into consideration as well.
And please don’t forget to do this step because is really important.
You don’t want to bang your head each time you are trying to do a pull-up!
After all, we are aiming to gain muscle mass and stength, not forehead bumps the size of an apple.
2. What is the best size for a squat rack with a pull-up bar?
The best average size of a squat rack with a pull-up bar on top is between 43-46.5 inches width (109 – 118 cm) x 45.4 to 50.5 inches length (115 – 128 cm) x 81 – 85 inches height (206 – 216 cm)
So the width and the length is the second thing to take into consideration befire your order your squat rack.
If your room doesn’t offer a lot of free space then you should look for some more compact variations of the machine.
Some additional space will be needed to perform your exercises appropriately without worrying about hitting any other objects or walls.

After all, if you are really keen on growing those big boys 💪 you may eventually want to buy some more machines.
Don’t forget that you will also need some space to assemble and install the equipment as well.
The other alternative is to demolish some walls if you find that easier, you choose…
3. How durable and what materials is the squat rack made from?
What makes a squat rack durable is the material which it is made of and the way the different pieces are attached. That is why you should look for high-quality materials like thick stainless steel, powder coating and long and wide screws.
Having those things will somewhat guarantee the longevity of the rack. Nobody wants to pay a few hundred bucks and then end up with a broken machine.
We can all agree that there are no cheap and durable machines at the same time available on the market.
If you are going to spend (almost) a fortune on a solid squat rack then at least make sure it’s durable. Respect the money that you have earned by working hard and make the most out of your investment.

One more little detail that goes hand in hand with durability is how well are the different parts held together. What is the quality of the screws and how long are they?
How many are the screws holding everything down?
You should ask yourself these sort of questions before you purchase your piece of equipment if you don’t want to find yourself under a pile of metal.
Quick Tip: Don’t forget to consider rust as a potential problem. Sadly, some models tend to get rust over time because of the materials used. Make sure to choose a rack which is rust-resistant. A good solution of that is a nice powder coating finish.
4. What is the best weight capacity for a squat rack?
The average best weight capacity most squat racks have is between 300 and 800 lbs. So in order to be safe you should aim to get something in the middle which is around 500 lbs.
Of course that number is not a rule and if the weight capacity is between 300 and 500 lbs that doesn’t mean the quality is terrible.
It’s still good but it’s not made to handle huge amounts of weights.
When you purchase a rack that can hold up to 700 – 800 pounds it means that in order to support this weight they must be offering better quality.

Of course, you can find racks that can hold about 300 – 400 pounds – after all, there is something for everyone on the market. My advice is to get one with a higher weight capacity but relax, I’m not calling you fat. Don’t forget that you will be using additional weight in your workouts. Imagine that you simply put your barbell on the rack and suddenly it collapses on your feet.
Not cool, huh?
In other words, make some calculations how much weight you are intending to put there so you will be able to pick one that fits your range. Another thing is that it is always good to have some extra room for additional weight so you can workout without having any concerns.

Example: If you are going to train with approximately 300 pounds, don’t just go for a rack that will hold up to 320 pounds. See what I mean?
5. How stable a squat rack can really be?
When it comes to stability you should look for a solid non-slip base of thick rubber, wide base, a heavy frame and extra plate holders. Not only they will stabilize the machine, but it will also make your workouts more enjoyable and safe.
After all one of the main features to look for in a squat rack is the stability. Will you be keen on doing pull-ups on a rack that is swinging like Titanic in a stormy ocean.

Some models out there even provide the option to mount them to the floor. They have pre-built holes in their bottom base which allows you to literally bolt them tightly to the floor. If you are not intending to move the rack around, then this is a great option for you. However, if you want to be able to move the machine then do not make your life harder.
Some people tend to blame the squat rack for not being stable. But it actually turns out to be your floor that is not leveled. So make sure that your floor is even. And don’t underestimate this thing because neglecting it may lead to the whole construction flipping over.
Safety first!

Some racks offer removable stabilizer bars which can be easily removed when you don’t need it. This piece comes in handy when your rack becomes a little wobbly.
Tip: It’s always a better thing to have a stable and leveled room. A very useful thing you can do is to buy some sort of floor mat specifically designed for training. That way you will have additional protection for your floor plus it will increase the overall stability of your rack.
6. How easy it is to assemble a squat rack with a pull-up bar?
If you are not aptitude to constructing this or that, then definitely pick a squat stand that is easy to assemble.
Well, if you want to prevent that then follow these 6 tips on how to assemble a squat rack:
- Consider how many parts are in there – believe me, this is a life saver!
- Pay attention whether all parts are present. Even only one missing little nut can make your life a living hell.
- Look if all the hardware and equipment is in the package
- The manual is a deciding factor! Always go for products that offer easy to read and, of course, easy to follow instructions.
- Find out what additional instruments will be needed for the assembling.
- Don’t forget to consider the time it will take you to assemble it. I know that this may not be the most important factor but you don’t want to deal with something complex that will make your hair go gray
We all know those pieces of furniture that come with a guide the size of the Bible. There is no escape from getting lost in them.

Tip: If you are not sure whether you will be able to assemble it all by yourself then I advise you to call someone to help you. It could be even your friend. An extra pair of hands are always welcome. Better be safe than sorry!
7. How much does a squat rack weigh on average?
The average weight of a squat rack with a pull-up bar is between 63.5 lbs up to 133.5 lbs (29 – 60 kg). That number can change depending on the specific model and how much attachments it comes with or are placed additionally.
If you have some future plans of moving it you would prefer something that is not too heavy and it can be disassembled quite easy and fast. The good news is that most racks are designed to be portable to some extent.

Having the options to fold or collapse the equipment can be quite useful in this type of situation but on the other side sometimes it can have a negative impact when it comes to overall safety and stability.
Sadly so far I haven’t seen a design that allows that but time will tell.
8. How much does a squat rack with a pull-up bar cost?
On average the price of a regular squat rack with a pull-up bar can cost between $100 and $600 but you can find a very decent model for about $150-$300.
Even if you have a fairly big budget to work with it’s always really good to know what you are getting for the amount of money you pay.
6 Important Extra Features To Look For Why Buying a Squat Rack With a Pull-Up Bar
There are a few very important features you should look for in every rack out there. Focus only on those which you find really important for you.
1. Are there any Safety Pins?
When it comes to your safety and well being you would 100% want to have safety pins on your squat stand. They are the only things that stay between the heavy barbell and your body and head.
You surely wouldn’t like them to pop open like a watermelon right?

Another benefit they could bring you is that you wouldn’t need a spotter when doing squats or bench press. You can go to failure every time you train without being concerned about your safety. Safety bars can be really helpful for many other exercises as well because they can also be used to hold your weight down.
Some of those exercises I come up with are shrugs, barbell rows and behind bicep curls. Because usually, the safety pins are a lot wider than the usual holding pins you would have to think about how and where exactly you are placing the bar.
Here’s a quick video explaining how to use the safety pins:
Unfortunately, not all racks out there have them. The cheaper ones usually are the ones that are lacking this very important feature. That, in my opinion, is a big mistake. If you have to pay a little extra cash to buy a rack that has them please go for it. It would be very helpful for you in the future.
One final thing you should take notice of is the length of the safety bars. If they are too short that might be a problem because you want the length to be enough so it can catch the bar if you don’t have the power to lift it up.
2. How good are the Holding Pins?
Holding pins are also widely known for the name J hooks. They are used for holding your weight in one place during the workout. Before picking the best squat rack with pull up bar, it’s a good thing to check the quality of the pins and check out how the attachment and detachment process is like.

If this sounds like too much detail I understand you. But have this in mind – you are the one that will be moving them almost, if not every time you train. That’s why it’s important to check them out.
The good news is that almost every single squat rack out there is somehow adjustable – some have more options than the others. By that I mean the total number of holes, the space between them and the height the holes start and end.
Usually the more options you have, the better.
If you have expensive professional barbells or you just want to preserve what you have it’s the pins that provide some sort of protection for your barbells.
That’s a rare occasion but it’s something you can look for if this is important for you. You also want that protection to be the same on the safety bars too.
3. What about resistance bands anchor pins?
If you want to really level up the amount of intensity or just want to add variety and stress your muscles resistance bands are the thing.

That’s when anchor pins can become really handy. If you really like resistance bands you want to look for models that have some anchor pins build into the base of the rack.
They provide you with the ability to anchor all kinds of resistance bands and incorporate them into your workout. If you don’t already know there are a lot of different benefits of combining free weights with resistance bands. If you want to learn more about them please Click Here to read my other article.
Implementing this technique will lead to overall greater results and will add a very large variety of exercises you can with the help of resistance bands.
4. Does it provide storage for your weights?
Most squat racks on the market come with pre-built storage space for your weights named storage pegs. Having a few of these on your equipment does have its perks.

It saves you time and space because even before you start with your workout you already know what plate is where making the whole place way more organized. This might not sound like a big deal to you but trust me, it quickly adds up in time.
Having plates placed on your rack gives it a lower center of gravity and makes it a lot more stable when you are doing different exercises. This is essential especially when you are using the pull-up bar.

It also adds convenience to your life because you don’t have to go far and carry additional weights every time you train. I personally know how annoying that can be.
5. What extra features does it come with?
Not all squat racks with pull up bars are made equal.
Ones have a lot more additional features that benefit you in many ways while others don’t. When you are comparing one specific model to the other a good point to use when balancing the scale to use is to answer this simple question:
What more can I get by choosing this one which is lacking in the other one?

You will eventually start seeing all the little things that really add up when it comes to features. Some of the most common are adjustable weight bench or a weight plate.
6. How many exercises does it allow you to do?
Personally, I would prefer a piece of equipment that provides me with the biggest amount of total exercises I can do with it. That way I can train my whole body easily and get the max out of the money I paid.

Here are the basic exercises you can do with a proper squat rack: squats, deadlifts, bench press, shoulder press, shrugs, pull-ups, chin-ups, knee lifts and much more.
Before you buy your first home gym equipment make sure you can do all of these basic exercises. If you can’t do some of them it’s better for you to go for another option out there.

But do not forget, fitness machines are made to last a very long time. So the next time you are complaining about home gym equipment being too expensive just remember that monthly expenses mount up in
What is more, in just a few months your investment will have paid off and as I said previously, the equipment will end up being yours. You won’t ever again have to wait for some dude to finish with his set so you can eventually start yours…
